Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz will defend the Wanita Umno chief's post in the party's elections in March.
In the statement, Rafidah 65 expressed disappointment that the transition plan was being disputed and rejected three months after she made the announcement.
Rafidah also said that she had no reason to believe that there would be turmoil after the completion of the nomination process.
Rafidah has helmed Wanita Umno since 1984, except for a term following her defeat to Datuk Seri Dr Siti Zaharah Sulaiman.
Rafidah, who won back the post from Dr Siti Zaharah in the 2000 party elections, announced the transition plan in August.
The movement's executive council, at its meeting last week, reaffirmed its support to the plan and rejected Shahrizat's call made a day earlier that the plan be coordinated with the leadership transition in Umno.
"Now that the transition plan has not been followed and the post will be contested, I will defend my post," she said.
Her deputy Datuk Seri Shahrizat Jalil decided to challenge Rafidah for wanita umno top post .
The announcement of her decision announced yesterday-YUNOS ALIAS.
